Jungle Rose - Poem

Jungle Rose

Knew it was faith that filled the space in her heart
It was there all along sending her signals from the start
Born into the wilderness instead of a walk through the park
They knew above she would be strong enough to part
So she was kept in the dark
How else is one to see if the lights remain off
Light can be harmful if under or overexposed
Eyes must first adjust to possibility of the unknown
Despite her inner doubts faith knew once the concrete dried
She would no longer sink while stuck and instead rise
For without limitation the mind can expand
Without experience how else is one to understand
A plan, a will, a mountain, a path
Above the climb, below the past
Lifted by grace, up and higher
Lava explodes giving birth to internal fire
In bloom the spiked stem of the rose grows higher and higher
Petals blossom and open as do new doors
Rose stronger than the mightiest tree rooted deep within the core
Growing stronger watered from weeping
Eyes wide open now from seeking
Darkness fades to grey, grey to day
Light at last, light at last, this rose is finally here to stay
